A high-level delegation of Ain Shams University headed by Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, the university president, made a successful four-day visit to the People's Republic of China during which the two sides discussed means of joint cooperation between Ain Shams University and China's Fudan University in Shanghai.

The delegation included Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Matini, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Graduate Studies and Research and Prof. Dr. Esraa Abdel-Sayed, Director of the Office of International Relations at the University.

Prof. Dr. Esraa Abdel-Sayed said that the delegation of Ain Shams University discussed ways of joint cooperation in the fields of engineering and medicine with Fudan University, which is the third university in China and ranks 40th internationally and has an international academic research reputation.

The delegation was received by Professor Yong hao Gui, Vice President of Fudan University and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, where the Egyptian delegation visited the Faculty of Communications and Information Engineering to discuss ways of exchanging students, faculty members, degrees and joint research projects between the two sides.

The Egyptian delegation also visited the science park headquarters to discuss the benefits of Chinese expertise, train students, fund research projects and how to manage innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Vice-President of Fudan University called for coordination between the officials of international relations on both sides in preparation for a memorandum of understanding, including the desired aspects of cooperation between them.

The delegation also visited the Zhang Shan Hospital for Organ Transplantation. The delegation visited the various medical departments in the hospital accompanied by Professor Wu, the hospital director and one of the most famous physicians in the field of organ transplantation worldwide. He expressed his willingness to sign a protocol of cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University in the field of research studies, training of doctors and the exchange of visiting professors. The Egyptian delegation visited the oncology Hospital of Fudan University and conducted an inspection tour of the various sections of the hospital and intensive care and bank cells.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Matini praised the Bank of Cells and expressed their desire to establish a similar bank at Ain Shams University.

A number of oncology professors at the Chinese University of Fudan are expected to attend the Oncology Conference, organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, in January.
